Dr Gerntholtz completed his post graduate training in Cape Town from 1992 until 2000. He then left for the UK where he worked in the Oxford Kidney Unit up until 2002. Following this he returned to South Africa and worked as a consultant in Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital up until 2005. In 2005 he started working in Life Fourways Hospital as both a general physician and a Nephrologist. In spite of just over ten years of practice up in Gauteng, Dr Gerntholtz and his family have always wanted to return to the fair Cape and were very pleased when an opportunity presented itself at the Rondebosch Dialysis Centre. He has taken up residence in the brand new dialysis unit and to offer all Nephrology services to patients. He has a strong interest in transplanting patients with end stage kidney disease as this confers many advantages to those who are on dialysis.
